Shaw Farms Market Pumpkin Times
2020 Covid-19 Safety Plan
The Shaw Farms family are very happy to once again host Pumpkin Times! We have been given the gift, through 200 plus years of inheritance, to this absolutely beautiful piece of land. It has for the last 40 years been our pleasure to share it with all the wonderful Tristate families that venture out! This year has caused everyone of our lives to change. We at Shaw Farms are working everyday to adapt to the safety precautions that must be taken order for all of us to stay safe and healthy. Here are some precautionary steps that we have put in place.
Entrance/Exits and Playgrounds
Our standard parking lot will have one way pedestrian lanes taking you in and out. Please follow the signage and maintain a six foot distance between your family and the others around you.
Upon entering the farm area you will pass through large gates. Our welcome team will be counting those entering and exiting. Please allow time for each family to pass through. We will provide masks at this area if you have forgotten your.
Our selling building will be EXIT only along the back. You may ENTER from the front. Please follow the 6ft social distancing guidelines while in building along with everywhere else on our farm.
We have extended our play areas in order to spread out activities. Please enjoy all the familiar photo ops in different places. We ask that all guests be conscious of other families when interacting in these areas. There are hand sanitizer stations in these areas. Please feel free to use them often!
Masks
The State of Ohio requires masks to be worn out in public. All of our Employees and Guests will be required to wear masks. We respect the fact that occasionally there may be people who medically can not wear masks. Please understand this reality and if you are uncomfortable by all means move away and come back later for that activity. Temperature Check All employees will be temperature checked daily. We ask that our guests closely monitor the health of their families before visiting our farm. If anyone has been exposed to covid-19 or has any of the symptoms associated with this sickness please wait to visit us until a later date. Thank you!
Guest Interaction
At all registers we have placed sneeze guards. However you may encounter areas where this is impossible such as hayride and other ride loading areas. The employees will be wearing masks and maintaining the required 6ft distance. Due to Covid-19 we can not assist guests on or off of rides. Please be prepared to help family members that may need an extra hand. We will not be requiring mask wearing by hayride drivers while driving.
Cleaning Maintenance
Our employees will be placing special emphasis on cleaning frequent touch points of their area. We will not be cleaning porous or wooden surfaces as per the CDC guidelines:
- Cleaning and disinfecting outdoor areas
- Outdoor areas, like playgrounds in schools and parks generally require normal routine
cleaning, but do not require disinfection.
- Do not spray disinfectant on outdoor playgrounds- it is not an efficient use of supplies
and is not proven to reduce risk of COVID-19 to the public.
- High touch surfaces made of plastic or metal, such as grab bars and railings should be
cleaned routinely.
- Cleaning and disinfection of wooden surfaces (play structures, benches, tables) or
groundcovers (mulch, sand) is not recommended.
- Sidewalks and roads should not be disinfected.
- Spread of COVID-19 from these surfaces is very low and disinfection is not effective. There will be hand sanitizer stations in all playground and ride areas. Please feel free to use these supplies frequently!
Rides
- Hayride seating will have physical barriers and families will be placed 6ft apart from others.
- The Blue Train and Pedal Karts will be sanitized after each ride.
- Horse Drawn Hayride will be socially distanced.
- The Corn Maze is 14 acres. In order to social distance, we ask that you step into a different path or the corn in order to pass another family. Game is online this year so it will be a non-contact activity.
Lines
All lines will be socially distanced. Please look for helpful signage, as it differs from area to area.
Food
Our usual menu at Shaw farms will be abbreviated in order to move lines as quickly as possible. Please try to have everyone's preference decided before reaching the counter as that will aid in the continual movement of the line.
Our picnic tables will be socially distanced. Please do not move them. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your help in these trying times! We look forward to seeing you and your family.
